Too Gruesome for a College Essay?

I've been trying really hard to figure out an essay topic for some of my college essays and i would like to know what other people think. the question is what makes you unique. i was going to play on the word unique because it means one of a kind, and not one specific characteristic makes me like no one else in the world. so i was going to make my theme "the whole is more than the sum of its parts" and talk about the moment i realized that people are defined by their personalities, which was when i first saw a cadaver in a science program. i was going to make the connection that everyone is made up of the same stuff etc. i just don't know if i should continue to develop this idea if it's not a great one. thanks for your help!
