Need info about recycling?

If i buy a shirt wear it around for 3 to 4 months then turn it into say a pillow case or a pull string bag, is it then ok to resell it? I know alot of people take items do things with them than resale it, i was just wonder is it ok to do that. Is there like a clause or anything that says that i can or can't do this.
