Should States set Border Controls? Does the American Anti Immigration Lobby Go Far Enough?

We all know that Cal, LA etc are the backbone of the US economy, and that the oil industry will soon run out of dollars, so, in the spirit of closing the borders...Should all American States take up the right to patrol their borders and expel undesirables?
